Tragedy and Congregations
- Course Dates: Fri 1 March 2019, 3:00 pm to Sun 3 March 2019, 3:00 pm

Manchester Arena, Grenfell Tower, Borough Market. And of course Salisbury’s own poisoning tragedy.
These dramatic events cause many people to seek out churches as places of refuge, reflection, prayer, and questioning. Christians too will have their questions: why has God made a world so full of traumatising events? What is God’s involvement in the horrific event?
This weekend offers the chance to explore the nature of trauma and its effect on lives and communities. It is an exploration that will help with a range of types of suffering and loss – great and small. Suitable for CMD for ministers, but also for inquiring Christians more broadly.
The teaching team is Professor Chris Southgate, well-known for his work on the problem of suffering, the Revds Hilary Ison and Carla Grosch-Miller, skilled pastoral theologians, and Dr Meg Warner, one of the rising stars of Old Testament Studies.
