The Spiritual Directors’ Toolkit (4th of 4)

  • Course Dates: Tue 13 January 2015, 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm

Delivered as four evening sessions this course aims to provide Spiritual Directors with an opportunity to enhance their skills as reflective practitioners.

This course will appeal to individuals who have recently completed a course of preparation for this ministry as well as more experienced directors. The course will honour the reflective nature of the accompaniment encounter by establishing a non-linear process-based learning environment. And the course ethos will be learning through awareness, practice and reflection.

Some of the areas we will explore are the accompaniment relationship (the unconscious dynamics at work such as, transference, projection; encouraging feedback and building rapport), moving deeper into the listening space (the art of reflecting back, questioning skills, self reflection and feedback), working with difference (gender, cultural; prejudice and biases) and supporting our practice as directors (mentoring, peer mentoring, reflective practice, supervision).

Participants are invited to keep a learning/reflective journal as part of the course and to apply this learning to their current practice as a director.

Please note that this course has been cancelled. Contact Alison Ogden for all enquiries.
