Taken by Lloyd Notice
- Course Dates: Sat 13 January 2018, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
This remarkable one-man show re-enacts the gospel of Mark with humour and raw emotion.
The direct words of Mark’s Gospel come to life through Lloyd’s formidable acting and the lighting, music and sound effects. And the drama unfolds in a powerful contemporary setting.
Inspired by Terry Waite’s book Taken on Trust, the production portrays Mark’s gospel through the experience of a someone held hostage for his faith, fighting for his sanity… What do you do to prevent your mind being TAKEN?
Lloyd Notice has starred in multiple West End plays and has toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company and internationally in Canada and the US. Lloyd’s television appearances include Casualty, The Last Detective and The Bill and he has performed in numerous Radio 4 comedies. Lloyd is passionate about making Jesus’s story live for this generation with relevance and immediacy.
Admission is £10. To book email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01722 424800.
“Lloyd’s rendering of Mark’s gospel as a prisoner is a tour de force. We are taken with freshness and compelling passion, humour and intensity through Jesus’ ministry. It’s a must-see for everyone.” – Revd Patrick Whitworth
Earlier this year, Taken was performed at the Histon Baptist Church, Cambridge. Here’s one response:
“It was an incredible performance. The stage setting, the off-stage sound effects, the lighting and the music all added immensely to the overall impact, but most of all, your acting and dramatization was gripping. All the words were so familiar and well-known, and yet it all came over in such a new way. The second half was particularly moving… Even though we knew all the stories so well as individual stories, how you memorized it all in sequence as a single actor on stage is beyond me! Brilliant! And thank you so much for doing it and taking it on tour, I would recommend anyone to go and see it, and pray that it will speak to many.”
