Servant Leadership
- Course Dates: Mon 10 June 2019, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Servant leadership is a leadership approach in which the main goal of the leader is to serve. A Servant Leader shares power, and puts the needs of others first. In this day we shall examine and reflect together on this form of leadership and explore its relevance for us by asking such questions as:
- Can we serve and lead at the same time?
- Have we sold out to CEO culture?
- Can you be a servant leader in a toxic environment?
With Robert K. Greenleaf, we will open up how a Servant Leader should be focused on such questions as, ‘Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?’ We will also explore Greenleaf’s ideas about the institution (eg hospital, college, church) as servant, and address critiques of servant leadership from the perspectives of culture and power.
This day will invite participants to reflect upon the growth and well-being of both themselves and the communities to which they belong.
