Life or Death: Whose Decision? Exploring the Ethics of Assisted Dying
- Course Dates: Tue 20 November 2018, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

This day will introduce participants to some of the questions, competing ethical theories and human stories that surround our ongoing disagreements about assisted dying.
We shall have an opportunity to look at the divergence of public and political opinion about the law in this area and explore some of the choices that might be available to us. There will be an opportunity for some small group discussion and participants will be resourced with guidelines and information about the moral, ethical and spiritual framework that might shape our understanding and wisdom.
The day will be led by James Woodward, principal of Sarum College, who was a member of the 2010 – 2011 Commission on Assisted Dying. As part of that work he spent some time Switzerland and Zürich learning about the law and the work of Dignitas.
