Holy Wisdom: A Theology of Imagination
- Course Dates: Sat 10 October 2015, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

There is a tradition in the Old Testament that underpins a contemporary approach to belief and spirituality.
These are the Books collectively known as The Wisdom Tradition, and there is strong evidence that this was the approach that Jesus embodied and developed.
Many people have seen ‘Wisdom’ as the feminine aspect of God, symbolized by The Tree of Life which ‘shall bring forth new fruit every month’ (Ezek 47:12, Rev 22:2). These passages are mysterious and full of metaphors, which eventually have found their way into the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary (The Litany of Loreto).
Holy Wisdom invites us to explore our own metaphors in our search for ‘the unknowable God’. This is a rich seam for understanding the Gospels, in particular the role of The Temple, and how St John could say: “We have beheld his glory” (1.14).
