Faith in Fiction: Anglican Women Novelists
- Course Dates: Sat 18 May 2019, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The novel provided a voice for Anglican women to explore matters of faith and their relationship to the Church of England.
We will study the work of selected authors from this perspective, particularly that of Dame Rose Macaulay, Dorothy L. Sayers and P.D. James.
The study day draws from a collection of essays compiled in a forthcoming book Anglican Women Novelists edited by Judith Maltby and Alison Shell about women who were inspired to write fiction through their relationship with the Church of England. The book explores developments in Anglicanism over the past two centuries and the changing roles of women within the Church of England.
