A Day with Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe

  • Course Dates: Thu 11 July 2019, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

An opportunity to explore the distinctive voices and experiences of these two English women mystics.

This interactive and thought-provoking workshop will uncover the depths and meaning of the imagery presented in Margery Kempe and Julian of Norwich’s visionary writings. It will also begin to introduce some other aspects of medieval medical understandings to illuminate as to what it might mean to attain ‘spiritual health’. It provides an insightful opportunity to explore the distinctive voices of these two English women mystics in light of our extraordinary mystical heritage.

Those who attended our short course programme ‘An Introduction to English Mystics’, may recognise some of the topics and works surrounding Julian and Margery’s work, but this course adds some extra depth and intrigue into the world of English mystics. No prior knowledge surrounding the ideas and concepts is needed, however. All are welcome to delve into the world of English Mystics.
