TQQ: The Gospel of John: The Story of a Visiting Stranger (1 of 2)
- Course Dates: Tue 28 November 2017, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Here is the key question for readers of the Gospel of John: why is this Jesus so different from the three other versions provided by Mark, Matthew and Luke?
Jesus talks all the time about himself and sees the secret of his significance in his origin with his Father before the beginning of time.
This quite distinctive Jesus must be formational of a very distinct Christian community, one that had some very painful experiences at the hands of co-religionists, and one that reacted to those experiences in a not entirely unpredictable way. We will place our fingers on the pulse of Johannine faith, recover how this Gospel understood faithfulness, and examine why it had such an immense long-term influence on the Christian Church.
