Introduction to Christian Doctrine and History
- Course Dates: Sat 25 February 2017, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm

This course will cover key periods and issues in the history of the church and major doctrinal developments.
Participants will be introduced to a timeline of Church history, and study some major events in more detail, such as Nicaea and Chalcedon, the Reformation, Christology and the doctrine of justification.
We will explore the historical contexts within which core theological ideas were developed or formulated, and read some primary documents and interpret them against their historical context.
This Saturday teaching day offers the chance to learn alongside Sarum’s ordination and licensed lay ministry candidates. The day will consist of four sessions led by one or more of our Sarum staff and, on occasion, visiting lecturers.
The day is ideally suited to be used as a refresher, to stimulate new thinking, or as a ‘taster’ to what it is like to study at Sarum College. The day begins at 9.30am and finishes at 6pm. Participants are given 90 minutes free time at the beginning of the afternoon.
