2016 Sarum Lectures: Renewing Hope: The Profligate Generosity of God
- Course Dates: Wed 18 May 2016, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

The Church mis-describes itself when we focus too much on statistics.
God’s ‘Easter people’ live with the hope of the resurrection in which life and love are of eternal significance. This matters for the world, not just for the Church.
A message chalked on the ground in the Place de la Bourse in Brussels after the recent terrorism said, ‘Hope is our resistance’. We Christians are a people alive to the hope of heaven. We are called to live as we pray, that God’s kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. God renews our hope.
This lecture is part of a series of four held in partnership with Salisbury Cathedral, given by the Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam. ‘Renewing Hope: The Profligate Generosity of God’ will be held in the North Transept of Salisbury Cathedral.
On sale before the lecture, exclusively to Sarum College Bookshop ahead of publication, will be Paula Gooder’s eagerly anticipated book, The Body: Biblical Spirituality for the Whole Person, based on the 2013 Sarum Lectures. See here for full details or contact the bookshop on 01722 326899 or bookshop@sarum.ac.uk to reserve your copy.
