Our ways of being and doing Christianity have previously been firmly located within the Christendom paradigm. This marriage of church and state has always been an ambiguous feature of Western Christianity, however, Christendom ended somewhere between 1945 and 1965.
How then are we to re-imagine church amidst the vestiges of once Christian Britain or the secularised wastelands of modern Europe? Is it precisely in such a challenging missional situation that the arts can come to our rescue? Will a fresh and imaginative re-engagement with the arts open up iconic spaces where the contours of a revitalised and renewed Christian faith will begin to emerge?
This one-day course will ask precisely these questions and venture into some rarely explored artistic territory.
£45, including lunch and refreshments.
