A relaxed weekend of singing with techniques and advice for all those who think they can’t sing. Ministers wary of singing in front of their congregations are very welcome!
Whether you only sing on your own in order to avoid criticism, or in a choir or in the pub, but hope you won’t stand out, this weekend is for you.
Singing, like writing or playing tennis, is as much a matter of skill as anything else. The more we understand how our voices work and practise good vocal technique, the more confident we will become.
During the weekend we will exercise all the parts of us that contribute to good singing. Above all, we will have fun singing together.
The weekend begins at 10am on Saturday morning and ends with lunch on Sunday. There will be four sessions on Saturday and two on Sunday morning.
The course will be held at Sarum College in the idyllic setting of Salisbury Cathedral Close. There will be some free time on Saturday afternoon to explore the locality. Owing to the nature of the course, the number of participants is limited to 18.
If you have a short song that you would like to work on during the weekend Ruth is happy for you to bring it along. Don’t worry if you haven’t got anything, she will have plenty of material to work on during the course.
“I have come home with renewed confidence, a clearer understanding of my personal hang-ups, and a determination to fulfil my secret ambition to be a ‘real’ singer.”
