Tidings of a Gospel True: Preaching at Christmas

Wed 21 November, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Christmas celebration provides great opportunities for preachers to engage with people who come to our churches for many different reasons.

But, if we are honest, it can also be a time when preparation time is short, we juggle numerous demands, and we struggle to find fresh ways to proclaim an over-familiar story. How do we as preachers proclaim the amazing Christmas message so that our hearers might really be able to sing ‘Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a gospel true’?

We will consider the opportunities that are there for preachers, and share experience of different approaches. We will learn from some of the pitfalls of preaching at Christmas, and engage with a selection of the readings as we explore the approaches we might take.

This day is for those who find themselves in a position to speak about the message of Christmas, either in the more formal services or other informal events.
